Born in Karachi on 22 December 1977—10th Muharram 1398, Sham-e-Ghareeban—Rizwan Zaidi began reciting Nohay and Manqabats at the age of five.
Born into a Syed family, he credits his father, Syed Zafaryab Ali Zaidi, and his mother as his earliest teachers and lifelong guides. He is married and blessed with three children: Syeda Hooria Fatima, Syed Muhammad Sajjad Zaidi and Syed Mesum Ali Zaidi.
A life in recitation
With gratitude to Allah and Panjtan-e-Pak (A.S.), Rizwan Zaidi’s journey has remained rooted in family, learning and the service of Azadari.
Karachi Day High School (1981–1992), Government National College (1993–1995), and graduation from Karachi University (1996–1999), followed by a Diploma in Media Production / Graphic Animation (2011–2012).
He began with his brothers Irfan Zaidi and Zeeshan Zaidi under his father’s Anjuman-e-Sada-e-Hussain (A.S.), recited with Anjuman-e-Ghumkhwaran-e-Asghar (A.S.) at 12, and with Anjuman-e-Shabab-ul-Momineen from 15 to 25.
Rizwan is the main vocalist and reciter of Anjuman-e-Azadaran-e-Makhdoma-e-Konain (S.A.), Karachi, and Managing Director of One Ten Production. His first Manqabat album, “Ya Ali Har Zamanay Mein,” was released in 2000.
He has recited hundreds of kalams by distinguished poets including Gohar Jarchvi, Noor Ali Noor, Dr. Rehan Azmi, Ustad Fahim Akhter, Musadiq Lakhani, Ashraf Jarchvi, Mohib Fazli, Arif Imam, Zafar Abbas Zafar, Dr. Majid Raza Abidi, Ashhar Mehdi, Ali Izhar, Mazhar Naqvi, Safdar Tabrezi, Jawwad Jafri, Kashif Haider and Zain Ali Jafri. By the grace of Allah, his recitations have reached audiences in the U.S.A., Canada, U.A.E., Singapore, Malaysia, Uganda, India, Tanzania, Oman, Iran, Iraq and Syria.
